Our Niece’s First Communion

Our youngest niece celebrated her First Communion on Mother’s Day this year – a day already rich with meaning, made even more memorable.

It was one of those golden days, full of family, tradition, and love passed down through generations.

She wore the dress, veil, and purse my mom hand-stitched from scratch for my First Communion 50 years ago – and my sister (her mom) wore 12 years after me.

The moment she put them on, it felt like the past and present were holding hands.

If that wasn’t enough for our heart strings, Mom gifted her the ring from our great-grandfather - worn by my grandfather, my mother, myself and all of my siblings on this sacred day.

She wore my grandmother’s earrings, a Jewel of Havana First Communion Bracelet and the necklace her dad gave her mom on their first anniversary.

Pieces from the past connecting us to our ancestors - and a new bracelet blessed today, I hope will continue through her family in the future.
