Handcrafted Azurite Chrysocolla Jewelry Collection
Azurite is a soft, deep blue copper mineral and gets its name from the Persian word Lazhward, referring to its distinctive blue color. For centuries, Azurite was crushed and used as a dye for paints and fabrics. Azurite is also called Chessylite, named after Chessy, a small community near Lyon , France. Azurite, although not a birthstone, is the zodiacal sign for Capricorn. Azurite is 1 of 2 (Malachite is the other) basic copper carbonate minerals, formed in copper deposits deep in the earth and frequently found in the same copper deposits as their cousin, turquoise. Azurite can be found in the United States, Mexico, Africa, France, and Australia.
Referred to as the stone of heaven, Azurite is an ideal stone to use for meditation as it allows the wearer to enter a state of deep meditation with ease and facilitate building confidence and spiritual cleansing. It is also said to help alleviate throat pain as well as other neck and shoulder related issues.
