Handcrafted Tourmaline Jewelry Collection
Tourmaline is classified as a semi-precious stone and comes in a wide variety of colors. Usually, iron-rich tourmalines are black to bluish-black to deep brown, while magnesium-rich varieties are brown to yellow, and lithium-rich tourmalines are almost any color: blue, green, red, yellow, pink, etc. Bi-colored and multicolored crystals are common. Along with Opal, Tourmaline is the birthstone for the month of October and the wedding anniversary stone for the 8th year. The state of Maine named Tourmaline as its ‘state gemstone’. The name comes from the Sinhalese (Sri Lanka) word tura mali which translates as ’the stone of mixed colors’. Tourmaline is primarily mined in Brazil and Africa, but can also be found in Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and the United States.
Tourmaline is believed to strengthen the body and spirit, especially the nervous system, blood, and lymph nodes. It is also thought to dispel fear and grief, as well as inspire creativity. It has been used extensively as a good luck charm by artists and writers
