Handcrafted Grey Sheepskin Jasper Collection
Jasper is an opaque, impure variety of silica, usually red, yellow, brown or green in color; and rarely blue. The common red color is due to iron(III) inclusions. The name Jasper means "spotted or speckled stone", and is derived from an old French word, jasper. The unique color patterns, along with hardness, distinguishes Jasper from all other gemstones. Jasper comes in a variety of names and is often named for either its pattern or its location of origin. Jasper is common and found worldwide. Important deposits exist in India, Russia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Egypt, Madagascar, Australia, Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay and the United States.
