Handcrafted Ammonite Fossil Shell Jewelry Collection
Ammonite comes in every naturally occurring color and is the common name given to Ammonoidea, an extinct group of marine invertebrate in the class cephalopod. The name Ammonite comes from the Greek ram-horn God called Ammon. Ammonites are the most widely known fossil and found in marine rocks. Ammonites usually appear in a coiled, spiral shape. The extinction of ammonites coincided with the extinction of dinosaurs. Because of their rapid evolution and wide distribution, Ammonite fossils provide a useful tool for indexing and dating rocks. Ammonites are found on every continent. They are mostly collected in Nepal, from the bed of the River Gandaki where it cuts through Jurassic sediments.
Many people believe that the Ammonite possesses energy for generating good luck, good health, good wealth and success, as well as providing insight for seeing the “whole picture”. They make wonderful gifts for Scientists, Mathematicians and Geologists! |
