Charoite is described as lavender to purple in color with a pearly lustre. Although not a traditional birthstone, Charoite is a natural birthstone for those born when the year is new (December 21-January 19). Charoite was first discovered in 1940 and named after the Chara River in eastern Siberia, Russia, the only site this beautiful purple to lavender stone is found.
This “Stone of Transformation” is said to transform negative emotions such as anger and fear into positive feelings by encouraging flexibility and “letting go” of negative energy. Charoite is also said to be a stone of inspiration, enhancing creativity, encouraging spiritual growth, and inspiring new possibilities in old situations.
